INVITATION DAY-OF-EXCHANGE in KELBRA 10/28/2024

In this project, we focus on exploring performative formats in explicitly rural areas through residencies and exchanges. As make a move collectiv from NRW/BE, we work together with the aerial artist and director Jana Korb from CIRCUSMÜHLE KELBRA in Saxony-Anhalt. Our aim is to develop targeted formats that promote exchange with local communities, create new creative concepts and redefine the use of space in urban and rural areas. As part of the project, we explore the meaning of everyday public-rural space in relation to our performative practices.

The residency weeks serve to test our working methods on site, to enter into an exchange with the local people and other artists. During the first week in Harbke, we look for networks, explore physically in the outdoor space and invite people to small showings. The buildings of a former metal construction hall will serve as our residence. In the second week in Kelbra, we will engage in an intensive exchange with Jana Korb (CIRCUS MÜHLE KELBRA) and offer workshops and movement units.

Finally, we evaluate the potential of future mobile formats and the role of artist residencies in rural areas. We want to find ways to bring art and culture from urban areas to rural areas.
